At the time when the first Tremors came out my life desperately needed a new monster to fear beyond the typical zombies or vampires. Even though I didn’t live anywhere near the desert, the thought of an underground grabby monster was scary to me.
The Tremors sequels offered different spins on the Graboid monster but Tremors 5: Bloodline explores the evolution of the monster’s life cycle, hence the “bloodlines” tacked on to the title.
Burt Gummer returns in the sequel as the monster expert looking to make it big with his homemade survival movies. He meets super fanboy Travis Welker who wants to help brand Burt into an internet sensation.
Burt is approached by The South African Wildlife Ministry seeking his help to deal with an Ass-blaster problem. Burt and Travis get together to take care of the monsters but then discover there is a bigger threat beneath the ground.
I thought Tremors 5 would be another throw away amusing sequel but I ended up enjoying it a lot more than expected. Though it borrowed a few things from some of the Jurassic Park movies, I found this forgivable since I happen to love the Jurassic Park movies.
If you’re looking for something fun and gooey to watch, Tremors 5: Bloodline is streaming on Netflix for your viewing pleasure.
