Happy Friday the 13th horror fiends!
Are you planning on snuggling up with your loved one this Valentines day weekend? Yeah, me neither!
Either way I have some twisted love story recommendations for you this weekend plus a selection of Friday the 13th movies currently streaming!
In the aftermath of his girlfriend’s mysterious death, a young man awakens to find strange horns sprouting from his temples.
I hear that a lot of people have a mixed opinion about this film. I loved it! If want to watch a movie with your date, I highly recommend this one.
Tromeo and Juliet
A modern, punk adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic. Told irreverently, this film attempts to impact the viewer in the same way theatre-goers were effected in Shakespeare’s time. Bawdy, Violent, Humorous, and Romantic.
Before James Gunn became well known for Dawn of the Dead and Guardians of the Galaxy, he got his start making Troma movies. Check out his first screenplay film.
My Sucky Teen Romance
Highschoolers Kate and Allison are sick of girls their age swooning over sparkling vampires, and this weekend at SpaceCON, they’re determined to be swept off their feet by real men. Little do they know an actual bloodsucker has turned local grocery store clerks Paul and Cindy into real-life vampires. And soon after Kate falls for a boy at the con, she’s accidentally bitten and turned into one of the undead! Luckily for the lovestruck Kate, Paul has fallen for her too — and with the help of their friends, this bunch will do anything they can to reverse the curse! With the weekend in full-gear and the body count quickly rising, this group of quirky misfits will need to track down SpaceCON’s resident vampire expert.
Emily Hagin’s sophomore film takes on a teenage vampire love story that is made for horror/scifi nerds. (No one sparkles I swear!)
Art, a drug-addicted dealer and hustler, arrives at his girlfriend Cody’s apartment to find that she has overdosed on heroin. He tries to fix things by traveling back in time in an attempt to prevent her death.
If you’re in the mood for something scifi-ish with a side of sappy, this movie is a great choice!
Alone with Her
A coffee shop waitress has a secret admirer who’s been filming her with surveillance equipment, first from afar and then at much closer range.
The first time I saw Alone with Her, I was happy to be single. This movie completed terrified me! If you ever think to yourself “Damn, I hate being single!” just watch this movie.
Bonus: Friday the 13th!
Have yourself a Friday the 13th marathon!
Whatever you end up doing this weekend, have fun, don’t walk under a ladder and… I love you.
