One of my favorite things to do during Halloween season is partake in my local events such as horror marathons, gallery exhibits or horror themed plays.
Over the years I have heard about Evil Dead:The Musical and I even own the soundtrack but I have never had the chance to experience the show live.
That all changed when the show arrive at Chicago’s Broadway Playhouse.
On Thursday I gathered my friend and we sat dead centered in the “splatter zone” section waiting to embrace this well-known musical.
Evil Dead: The Musical follows the film franchise on the story of Ash and his friends shacked up in a mysterious cabin in the woods. The musical takes on a comedic tone with humorous songs and silly, off-color jokes and of course, lots of blood.
As a fan of the Evil Dead series I deeply enjoyed this show and the references made to things like Sam Raimi’s Spiderman, Ghost Dad and even Army of Darkness.
For a girl who loves blood and gore it made a lot of sense to pick seats in an area known as “the spatter zone” which lives up to this name. I walked out with a big, bloody grin on my face and my arms cover with sticky, fake blood.
This musical has set the tone for the Halloween season and I urge any of my local horror fans to go check this show out as soon as you can.
The last day to see Evil Dead: The Musical is Oct 12 so pick a day before then, grab some friends and some ponchos and sit in the splatter zone. You can also stay clean in the regular seats and still walk out with a wonderful experience.
