A lot of people are hardcore, devoted fans to the first Return of the Living Dead film.
As much as I love it, I have a special place in my heart for part two.
When I was growing up Return of the Living Dead Part 2, Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead were the only zombie movies my older brother had. So of course, I watched them all over and over and over again.
Return of the Living Dead 2 is more of a remake/do over than a sequel to the first Return of the Living Dead film.
A military truck carrying barrels of Trioxin accidentally loses one in middle America. When some kids find the barrel, they unleash the zombie gas which spreads across a cemetery.
The dead awake and take over the small town searching for brains!
I love that the film goes into a comedy route more than being a “scary zombie movie.” It’s hard to get scared and panic about the zombie apocalypse when they have a zombie Michael Jackson doing the Thriller dance while being electrocuted.
Return of the Living Dead 2 was humorous and light-hearted so it made my 8 year-old self less afraid of zombies. I have to give it a lot of credit for giving me the confidence in knowing that at that young age I could totally take on zombies and have a lot of fun doing it as well.
Thank you Return of the Living Dead Part 2.
