Happy Friday the 13th everyone!
This week’s selection has a remake, spiffy doc, a movie with failed potential and of course a Jason flick. It’s a wide range of movies to pick from so check them out via Netflix Instant Watch.
This remake takes on a different spin from the classic film. The aftermath of the traumatic event of the prom has Sue Snell in a police station re-telling the story of the bullied Carrie White. She flashes back to everything that led Carrie to lose her shit and kill everyone.
I don’t think this is a bad remake, it’s just ok but Angela Bettis rocks so there’s one up. It might be an interesting comparison to the new remake that is in the works. Bleh.
Yellow Brick Road
Explorers who want to write a book/document a small town’s 70 year-old mysterious history involving the entire town disappearing while traveling down a trail.
Folks, I don’t know what to tell you about this one. I’m recommending it so people can feel the same pain I did. This movie had soooooo much potential. I was all up in it, totally creeped out and then *fart* the ending was poop. They literally pooped out a random ending that had nothing to do with anything. I haven’t seen The Devil Inside yet but I heard the ending was not good. After seeing this, I know the feeling. Again, it angers me because this movie was just so good up until the last 5 minutes so watch with caution.
And if you do choose to see this and watch the last 5 minutes, you have to let me know what you think.
This documentary takes a look at the history and evolution of grindhouse films all while interviewing awesome people like David Hess, John Landis, Joe Dante and many more!
So of course it being Friday the 13th, I had to add a Friday the 13th movie in this week’s mix.
In this “final” Friday movie (pffft) Jason is back and now with a spiffy power to take over someone’s body all via touch! Whaaa? Yeah, think Wes Craven’s Shocker and that Dez Washington movie Fallen only with Jason.
Have a great weekend folks
