Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy’s Revenge

In my opinion, this is the weak sauce of the entire series.

Jesse and family move into Nancy’s old pad. Soon after Jesse starts having nightmares of Freddy and wakes up screaming like a bitch. Freddy’s intentions aren’t to kill Jesse but to take over his body (opposed to rock his body) Freddy wants to use Jesse so he can kill in the real world.

It’s been quite some time since I’ve seen this follow up and the whole time watching it today, I just kept thinking “wow, this is crap.” I guess maybe because I’m more familiar with Freddy’s desire to haunt a bunch of kids, maybe collect some souls instead of pulling a Charles Lee Ray. Seems a little lame. Meh. I guess that’s why I didn’t throw this one on the poll. Does anyone like this one above the others? I know it has some interesting qualities but definitely not the best compared to rest.

Best Kill:

There wasn’t much to go by on the death count. There was the gym teacher, the jock guy, party goers but my choice is going to the birds. Why? Because I like to be completely random so take that!

  1. You watched it all wrong! You have to pick up on the not-so-subtle metaphor for a teenage boy struggling with his clear homosexuality. It makes it a brilliant movie!

Okay, still awful all around, but much more interesting that way.

  2. Part 2 is not quite the worst one. I'd give that honor to the 5th one. This one holds a special place for me because the pool attack scene is my earliest memory of seeing a horror movie.
