24 Hours of Horror

Dear Loyal Readers,

Yes, all three of you. This letter is to inform you that if you’ve been faithfully following my movie choices for this month, you should know that there will be no entries for Oct 11 and 12 for 31 Days of Halloween.

No I have not given up on my yearly tradition. Pshaw. As a hardcore horror fan, I partake in a movie marathon know as the Music Box Massacre. This marathon has been going on for 5 years now and it’s the one thing I look forward to the most in October.

It’s a painful experience to be in a dark theater, sitting in an uncomfortable chair for 24 hours while battling the sweet urge to sleep.

One of my main problems is I don’t like nor drink coffee but my love for horror keeps me going strong. Every year I’ve gotten better and better at not sleeping or at least sleeping less. I think last year was the only time I didn’t sleep at all (zoning out doesn’t count) and the year before I only slept for like 20 mins.

So to get to a point, I won’t be watching just one movie, I’ll be watching several. Here’s the lineup:

The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Isle of the Dead

Bucket of Blood

The Black Cat (Masters of Horror)

Edgar Allan Poe bicentennial birthday reading by Tim Kazurinski
and Greg Hollimon

The Brood – 30th Anniversary with star Art Hindle star
in Person!

Re-Animator

From Beyond

Pontypool

Dark Night of the Scarecrow – writer J.D. Feigelson
in Person!

Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2

Blood Feast

Maximum Overdrive

Carrie

Short films: Fallow (Colin Landry & Rue Morgue’s Dave Alexander), Hobo with a Shotgun, Alphabet (David Lynch), Mannequin Men Video, Phobia and more!

I plan on drinking some tea, Monster drinks and whatever other energy foolishness I can get my hands on but for the most part, it’s going to be hard to sleep through any of this awesomeness.

When I recover on Sunday or Monday I’ll post about the event, and I will be doing Twitter updates until my phone dies (I live close by to charge it during breaks so we’ll see how long I can go.)

Wish me luck!
